On the 29th of May 2011, Kiserian school hosted local Rotarians and representatives from the Rotary Club of Dayton, Fred Abrams and Jim Beerbower, who came and presided over the opening of the new school building, clinic, biogas and Green houses, which have been supported by Rotary District 6670 Clubs and other well wishers in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Muthaiga here in Nairobi.

The latest Rotary projects completed are a new High school classroom block, a health clinic, a biogas plant and four green houses.

These have been made possible by:
Rotary Club of Cincinatti who funded the clinic, Rotary Club of Tipp City, Joyce Laufersweiler and Tom Becker who funded a classroom in the school building and Christ United Methodist Church who funded the Green houses and the Biogas plant.
The new school is a three storey building which houses all the high school classes and even hosts a library, a computer lab and a staff room. The classes are furnished with classroom desks and chairs and the other rooms will be soon furnished.

The Clinic has also been furnished with all the relevant furniture and equipment and a clinical officer is in charge of running it. It is currently serving the children boarding at the school and awaiting full registration by the Kenyan Ministry of Health to serve the community.
The biogas plant continues to generate sufficient gas for cooking the children’s meals.
The school has made savings by not purchasing firewood and sawdust that was previously used to make the school meals, since the school cows are providing the Biogas plant with the raw material to make the gas.
At the green house we are preparing for the second harvest of tomatoes, the first harvest having been realized in December of last year. The tomatoes are sold in the community and at two market areas 10 Kilometres away from the school and also consumed by the children in the Maji Mazuri programs.
Kiserian Girls High school football team applied to participate in the Safaricom sakata football tournament and were successful and invited for the Kick off tournament which occurred on the 8th of April 2011 in Narok stadium. They won and went on to qualify for the second round tournament which was held on 17th April 2011 in Naivasha stadium. They did not win in the second round but were awarded certificates and team uniforms for the effort.
On 28th June 2011, Kiserian School were privileged to host a team from the National Environment Management Authority led by the Acting Director General and they donated environmental conservation learning materials to the School.

The Acting Director General was very impressed by the Centre’s initiatives in environmental conservation and the main aim of the visit was to identify the School as an environmental centre of Excellence in the District.
