Together for our community

The  World Health Organization estimates that a big percentage of the illnesses and diseases found in informal settlements are caused by poor waste management. Mathare Valley has an estimated population of 400,000 , 15% of whom are children...

Green_Heroes_Africa4

In a bid to make an environmental impact in Mathare Valley, the Maji Mazuri Green Heroes have been holding weekly cleanups in Mathare, through the garbage project,

Green_Heroes_Africa5

a social business that seeks to not only clean the environment but to also sensitize the community on proper waste management.

On 14th April 2012, The Maji Mazuri Green Heroes in collaboration with other youth groups in Mathare Valley and surrounds held a major cleanup event that also doubled up as a sensitization campaign on proper waste management.

The event was successful as most of the areas in Mathare Valley were cleaned, and the group is now continuing with the sensitization campaign.

The Maji Mazuri Green Heroes would like to thank each and every member who participated, of special mention is the representatives from the United Nations Environmental Programme and the members of the Mathare Maji Mazuri Teens Group. Thank you for making this possible.
