A Powerful Partnership

Despite abject poverty, desperate living conditions and little or no education, local people are starting small businesses, sending their children to school and improving the quality of their lives. All this through a local program, Maji Mazuri (which means ‘clean water’), run by a dedicated Kenya team, with funding and support from people like you around the world.
More than 3 million people live in Nairobi, capital of Kenya in East Africa, and 2/3 of them live in slums like Mathare Valley, where Maji Mazuri operates. There, some 500,000 people live crammed together…

Community Center Fund
We have made a great start towards achieving our goal of $2 million to build and equip a 30,000 square foot building which will house all of our existing programs – the Head Start school, with places for 350 children, the micro-business loan program, the Teens program and the youth Group – plus a new clinic, a community hall, a library, and an Internet café.

Kiserian school
18 children move into the new facility at our Kiserian school
he orphaned or abandoned children at our Maji Mazuri Children’s Centre are in most cases (but not all) physically or mentally challenged. Those with purely physical handicaps, and the able-bodied, have been living at the Children’s Centre alongside our mentally challenged children and this is not ideal for them.
